These terms apply to every order placed through whitelionscientific.co.uk or by email. Please read them before you order. By placing an order you agree to them.
1. Who we are

2. Who these terms apply to
We sell to consumers (individuals buying for purposes outside their trade, business or profession) and to trade customers (businesses, schools, universities, laboratories and other organisations). Some sections apply only to one group and say so. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
You must be 18 or over to place an order. Some products, such as heating equipment and laboratory liquids, are intended for use by, or under the supervision of, a responsible adult.
3. Our products
- We make every effort to describe and show products accurately. Images are for illustration, and small variations in colour, packaging or appearance may occur.
- Products are supplied for educational, demonstration and laboratory use. Please read and follow any safety information supplied with them.
- If a product becomes unavailable after you order, we will tell you and refund any payment for it.
4. Placing an order and how the contract is formed
- Add products to your basket, enter your details and choose a delivery option at checkout.
- Check your order and correct any errors before you submit it.
- When you submit your order, we will email you to acknowledge it. This is not yet acceptance.
- The contract is formed when we dispatch the goods and email you to confirm dispatch, or otherwise confirm acceptance in writing.
- We may decline an order, for example if a product is unavailable, there is a pricing error, or we cannot deliver to your address. If we do, we will tell you and refund any payment in full.
5. Prices and payment
- All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). The total you pay, including delivery charges and any applicable taxes, is shown at checkout before you place your order.
- If a product is obviously mispriced, we will contact you before dispatch and you may either confirm the order at the correct price or cancel it for a full refund.
- We accept the payment methods shown at checkout. Payment is taken when you place your order. Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider and we do not store your full card details.
- Trade customers may apply for invoice terms. Where agreed in writing, invoices are payable within 30 days of the invoice date.
6. Delivery
- We deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom only. Delivery charges and timescales are set out on our Delivery Information page and shown at checkout.
- Delivery times are estimates. If something outside our control delays your order, we will contact you as soon as possible. Consumers may cancel and receive a refund if delivery is significantly late.
- Goods are your responsibility once delivered to the address you gave us, or collected by you or a carrier you arranged. You own the goods once we have received payment in full.
7. Cancellations, returns and refunds
Your rights to cancel and return goods, including the consumer 14-day cancellation right and our trade returns terms, are set out in our Returns & Refunds Policy, which forms part of these terms.
8. Faulty goods
- Consumers: goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose (Consumer Rights Act 2015). Your remedies are explained in our Returns & Refunds Policy.
- Trade customers: we warrant that goods will be free from material defects for 12 months from delivery when used as intended. If they are not, we will repair, replace or refund them at our option. This warranty does not cover fair wear and tear, misuse, failure to follow instructions or unauthorised modification.
9. Our liability
- Consumers: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that is not foreseeable. We supply products for domestic, educational and private use only and are not liable to consumers for business losses.
- Trade customers: we are not liable for any loss of profit, business, revenue or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability under any order is limited to the price paid for that order.
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
10. Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as courier failures, severe weather or supply shortages. We will tell you as soon as possible and take steps to minimise the effect. Where the delay is significant, you may cancel and receive a refund for goods you have not received.
11. Your personal information
We use your personal information only as set out in our Privacy Policy.
12. Complaints
If you have a complaint, please email info@whitelionscientific.co.uk with your order number. We aim to reply within 2 working days and to resolve complaints within 14 days.
13. General
- We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when you place your order applies to that order.
- If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers living in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings in their local courts. Trade customers agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
